Product Development Engineer (Mechanical)

Mitrex, an Integrated solar and construction solution provider, is looking for an experienced, full-time, permanent mechanical product development engineer to develop a ground-breaking new solar energy system to the construction industry. We are looking for someone with 3+ years of experience in design, manufacturing, and solid modelling.

COMPETENCIES

  • Diploma or University degree in mechanical engineering or relevant working experience
  • 3+ years of mechanical design experience in the industrial sector or construction industry
  • Knowledge of current computer applications such as the MS Office suite (Outlook, MS Project, Word, Excel), Acrobat Reader, Access and other applications, databases, and interfaces
  • Proficient in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and other CAD applications
  • Electrical or solar experience is an asset
  • A passion for sustainability and solar energy

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Integrate solar into building materials from concept to production
  • Validate projects through simulation and internal testing
  • Work on schedule and within the budget on all mechanical aspects of the project, and manage own time for maximum efficiency
  • Be capable of writing technical documents in English at an engineering level
  • Create designs in line with company procedure, regulations, and client standards
  • Provide support during the building and installation process
  • Finalize designs and send data to the production department
  • Evaluate mechanical and electromechanical systems and products by designing and conducting research programs, applying principles of mechanics, thermodynamics, hydraulics, heat transfer, and materials.
  • Confirm system and product capabilities by designing feasibility and testing methods, testing properties.
  • Develop mechanical and electromechanical products by studying customer requirements; researching and testing manufacturing and assembly methods and materials; soliciting observations from operators.
  • Develop manufacturing processes by designing and modifying equipment for fabricating, building, assembling, and installing components.
  • Assure system and product quality by designing testing methods; testing finished- product and system capabilities; confirming fabrication, assembly, and installation processes.
  • Prepare product reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends
  • Maintain system and product database by writing computer programs and entering data.
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Other duties as requested
